Not Sure if you need to clean your air ducts or dryer vent stack?

Why Clean Your Air Ducts?

The longer your air ducts go without a cleaning, the more dirt, dust, pollen, and mold spores will gather there. If you fail to address this issue, you will be vulnerable to serious risks, including:

Allergens – Particulates like mold and pollen undermine air quality and threaten the health of anyone with allergies. If you don’t clean your air ducts regularly, you allow these particles to circulate in large numbers.
Microbial Growth – In addition to setting off allergies, mold spores implant in sensitive parts of your home and grow. Over time, they erode the foundations of the building, putting you and the rest of your family at risk.

It could be time to clean your air ducts if:

  • You notice dust building up all over your house
  • Your allergies are getting worse or you’re coughing.
  • Waking up with runny nose or irritated eyes
  • It has been more than 5 years since your last cleaning
  • You live close to an unpaved road or near the beach
  • You just finished a remodeling project
  • You don’t know when the ducts were last cleaned in the home you just purchased

Why Clean Your Dryer Vents?

When your dryer vents are not cleaned properly, your system will begin to perform poorly and is forced to work harder to do its normal job. This will mean slower operation, poorly dried clothing, and a potential fire hazard. Additionally, your dryer will wear out sooner from the extra work, and your utility bills will rise by over $250 annually.

Dryer vents clog when enough lint accumulates in your ventilation system to cause a blockage. Dryer vents can clog in a variety of ways. For one, a lengthy distance on a dryer ventilation system increases the likelihood of bends and curves in the system, where lint is most likely to collect. Second, dryer ventilation tubes are made from pliable plastic or foil, which can be easily crushed or dented given enough pressure. Finally, a poorly connected ventilation or dryer vent screen can cause lint to trap. Some ventilation screens serve to prevent animals from accessing the ventilation, but these screens can also create a barrier for lint.

Dryer Vent Cleaning Quick Facts

  • The US Fire Administration Reports there are more than 12,700 clothes dryer fires annually, resulting in 15 deaths, 300 injuries and $88 million in property loss each year. “Failure to clean” is the leading factor contributing to clothes dryer fires in residential buildings.
  • A clear dryer vent can improve energy efficiency, allow clothes to dry more quickly, and lower utility costs.
  • GoAir technicians clean both the inside and outside portions of the vent.
