How do I measure my filter?

To order follow these 3 easy steps:

  • Step 1 – Measure Width and Length (W x L), then take away 1/4″.*
  • Step 2 – Measure the thickness (T) of your filter.
  • Step 3 – Use all measurements (W x L x T), and select pads quantity.

* Making the filter 1/4″ less of the original opening will ensure that the frame will go in and out effortless.
(example: If your opening is 20 1/4″ (Width) x 20 1/4″(Length), than you will order a 20″ x 20″)

Frames are custom made and NON-RETURNABLE. Please make sure you enter the correct measurements before buying.

We will make the order to your specifications within a tolerance of +0″ -1/8″.  What this means is your size entered will never be bigger but may be up to 1/8″ smaller.  This tolerance is typical of all custom made air filters and is the result of the manufacturing process.

How Often Should I Change My Filter?

This will depend on the type of material and efficiency of the filter you select.
It is important to switch your air filters regularly to keep your indoor air quality at its best. Also, by installing a new air filter, your AC unit will work more efficiently and lower your energy bills. How often you need to change your furnace or air conditioner filter will depend on the type of material and efficiency of the filter you select.

    • Fiberglass Filters

Fiberglass air filters are a low cost, disposable solution but need to be changed every 30 days or less.

    • Pleated Filters

Pleated air filters are also disposable but typically have better efficiency than fiberglass and can last longer – up to 90 days depending on the season.

    • Important Factors

Where you live and the time of year are also important factors that will impact frequency. According to Energy Star (www.energystar.gov), filters that would typically last 90 days should be changed every 30 days during peak summer and winter months. This is when HVAC systems are operating at max capacity and thus require maximum efficiency to continue running smoothly.

What is a MERV Rating?

The MERV (Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value) rating is designed to measure a filter’s ability to capture and hold particles and pollutants. The higher the MERV rating, the more particles – dust mites, pet dander, air allergens, etc – your filter will capture. Matching the right MERV rating to your needs will improve your home’s air quality and will extend the life of your furnace or air conditioner.

Remember, regular maintenance of your home’s cooling and heating system is essential to ensure it operates efficiently. Proper maintenance will keep good air quality in your home, increase the life span of your system, and consume less energy – lowering your bills.
Your filters should be changed every 30 to 90 days depending on the type and efficiency of your filter. However, according to Energy Star (www.energystar.gov), filters should be changed every month during peak summer and winter months when your HVAC system is operating at highest capacity.
For safety, turn off your HVAC unit before attempting to change the filter. If you can’t figure out how to turn off the unit, turn off the breaker. Most air filters are located to the right or bottom of the unit and should easily pull out of the slot. Although not common, some filters are found in air vents instead. If that is the case, you might need to contact a professional for assistance.
